Maps of 7th floor

Viewer Experience (lead in to script)

Triptych
Manufaction, Dog Paw Feet, Aero Dynamics (Birds Rest in Trees)

The Triptych consists of a total of 3 pieces that would be performed in a live event setting. The initial performance of the Triptych will take place on the 7th floor of the Tower Building on March __.

The show will open with Manufaction, a 2 channel piece.
-a glass window installation that reveals a plane.
-and a projection of the same installation by the ocean.
(5-7 min)

The next piece is Dog Paw Feet. the story of a reclusive alcoholic, shut in with his sole companion, his dog. This piece plays out like a live broadcast musical and features 3 monitors installed into a set (knowingly accessible).
(4-5 min)

The final piece flows from Dog Paw Feet and is called Aero Dynamics.
Performers will carry out monitors to create a tower. The resulting image will be of a flock of birds with family lineages composited onto their overlapping wings. A phantom chorus will deliver some of the remaining soundtrack.
(4 min)

The viewer will experience the piece in many different ways. I will first explain the viewer’s experience of the show and will then expand further into the necessary factors in order for this event to take place.

Viewer Experience
-The viewer exits the 7th floor elevators and is directed through the studio where the Dog Paw Feet set is. There they will get to take in the footage playing on the 3 monitors as it relates to the actor sitting at the table. The news is playing on a monitor that is surrounded by newspapers on the floor, a jug of Whiskey plays on a monitor next to a Man’s hand, and a dog staring longingly at her owner from the basement monitor.
-The viewer will then proceed past the studio personnel into the screening room where they will be seated. A feed from the studio will be projected.
-The feed fades to the projection of Manufactioned by the water and the viewer will be welcomed with a spotlight to the show controlled by the show’s guide. The audio of the tide washes overhead.

-Manufactioned is an installation that is initiated by the guide. He will loosen valves to let rotten milk spill onto glass, forming the image of a plane flying belly up over/under head. A live band will have a movement from organic to synthetic sounds.

-Dog Paw Feet begins on screen. Slow dolly shots over the linoleum will scan the 3 monitors. See http://dogpawfeet.blogspot.com/. A storm is simulated and the man survives while his dog perishes.

-Aero Dynamics is performed in front of the viewer. Monitors are stacked and the show closes.

-The viewer exits through the studio to view visible signs of the flood and can enjoy their own shots of whiskey and refreshments.

Aerodynamic models

The aerodynamic benefit of formation flying has long been suspected. But until now, it has proved impossible to test.

They found that the birds' heart rate went down when they were flying together and they were able to glide more often.

Example Ruff Cut as of 12/23/07

This is the very Ruff and very unmixed version of what is to come of a triptych piece I am working on. This is 1 part of a total 3 pieces that would be performed in a live event setting. This is the piece that would fall in the middle. I'm calling it Dog Paw Feet. It's intro and outro images are even rougher previews of the pieces that fall before and after it. Chances are if you're looking at this, I'm seeking your help in making this a reality (of sorts). E-mail me with any questions or interest you might have in this. I will be posting a script and other descriptive documents with it shortly.
